Water Chestnut Delight Recipe

Ingredients :

500 g

375 g

250 g

1 litter

500 ml

2 tablespoons

3 tablespoons

Water chestnuts (washed and peeled. Cut into 6mm thick slices)

Sugar

Water chestnuts powder

Water

Evaporated milk

Vegetable shortening

Oil for frying

Method :
  • Put water chestnuts in a pot of water and bring to boil.

  • Add sugar and cook till sugar dissolves.

  • Allow to simmer over very low heat.

  • Mix water chestnut powder with evaporated milk.

  • Sift and add vegetable shortening.

  • Stir this mixture into simmering contents in the pot. Remove from heat.

  • Pour into a greased baking tray. Steam for 1 hour.

  • Cut into slices when cool.

  • Heat a little oil in pan and pan-fry slices till slightly brown on both sides.

  • Serve hot.
