Deep Fried Sweet and Sour Spareribs Recipe

Ingredients : Serves 6-8

Marinade :

Sauce :

2 teaspoons

1 tablespoons

3 teaspoons

1/4 teaspoon

Spareribs, cut into bite size pieces

Cornstarch for coating

Oil for deep frying

Pineapple, cut into slices (for garnishing)

Cucumber, cut into slices (for garnishing)

 

 

Salt

Five spice powder

Ground black peppercorn

Soy Sauce

Cooking wine

 

 

Sugar

Tomato sauce

Vinegar

MSG (optional)

Water

Method :
  • Mix together all the marinade ingredients : salt, five spice powder, ground black peppercorn, soy sauce and cooking wine.

  • Mix well all the sauce ingredients : sugar, tomato sauce, vinegar, MSG and water.

  • Marinade ribs for 1 hour.

  • Heat oil for deep frying. Coat ribs evenly with cornstarch and deep fry till crispy. Remove, drain and set aside.

  • Heat 1 tablespoon oil in frying pan. Add sauce mixture and bring to boil.

  • Return ribs and stir to coat ribs thoroughly with the sauce. Cook till sauce is quite dry.

  • Dish up and garnish with the pineapple and cucumber slices.

  • Serve at once.
