Grilled Beef in Pointed Pepper Leaves Recipe

(Bo Nuong La Lot)

Grilled beef

300 g

1/2 teaspoon

Pointed pepper leaves, washed and drained

Cooking oil

Chopped peanuts (groundnuts)

Mixed fish sauce or fermented anchovy

Bamboo skewers



Minced beef

Garlic, finely chopped

Shallot, finely chopped



Ground white pepper

Curry powder

Fried shallots

Cooking oil

Method :
  • Combine all grilled beef ingredients and mix well.

  • Leave to marinade for 30 minutes

  • Lay a pointed pepper leaf on a plate and scoop 1 tablespoon of marinated beef onto it.

  • Roll leaf up to form a small parcel about 5 cm long. Make 20 parcels.

  • Skewer 4 parcels on each bamboo skewer. Brush parcels with some oil and grill until leaves are slightly charred.

  • Sprinkle beef with ground peanuts then dip in mixed fish sauce or fermented anchovy dip before eating.
