Grilled Lemongrass Chicken Recipe

(Ga Nuong Sa)

Noodles and a green salad make fine partners for this delicious chicken, which you can serve as an appetizer or main course.

Ingredients : Serves 3 - 4

2 stalks

1/4 teaspoon

450 g (1 lb)


Lemongrass, thinly sliced

Shallots, peeled and chopped

Chili, chopped

Garlic, peeled and chopped



Soy sauce

Oyster sauce

Fish sauce



Sesame oil

Freshly ground black pepper

Chicken meat, cubed

Bamboo skewers

Method :
  • Pound the lemongrass, shallots, chili, garlic and oil until fine.

  • Add the salt, soy sauce, oyster sauce, fish sauce, honey, sugar, sesame oil and pepper to the lemongrass mixture, stirring well to combine.

  • Place the chicken cubes in a large bowl with the paste and marinate for about 1 hour.

  • Meanwhile, start the barbecue fire.

  • Soak the bamboo skewers.

  • When ready to eat, thread the chicken cubes on the skewers and grill over medium-hot coals until done, about 4 minutes on each side.

  • Remove from the fire and serve.
