Fried Fish with Lemon Grass and Chili Recipe

(Ca Chien Sa Ot)

Ingredients : Serves 4

Lemon grass, bulbous portions only, thinly sliced then minced

Garlic, peeled and finely chopped

Red chilies, finely chopped

Fish sauce


Ground turmeric

White fish fillet or red snapper

Cooking oil, for deep frying

Fish sauce, dipping sauce

Method :
  • Combine lemon grass, garlic, chilies, fish sauce, sugar and ground turmeric.

  • Coat fish with mixture and leave to marinate for 15 minutes.

  • Heat cooking oil and deep fry fish on one side until golden brown before turning over to cook the other side.

  • Remove and drain well. Serve with steamed rice and a dipping sauce of fish sauce and chopped chili.
