Fish Tomato Soup Recipe

(Canh Ca Nau Ngot)

Ingredients : Serves 4

1 liter

500 g



1 teaspoon

1 tablespoon

1 teaspoon

1 teaspoon


For garnishing


2 sprigs

Water or stock

Freshwater fish fillets, cleaned and cut into large chunks

Tomatoes, cut into wedges

Red chili, sliced

Lime juice

Fish sauce


Chicken seasoning powder



Spring onions (scallions), cut into 3 cm lengths

Chinese celery, cut into 3 cm lengths

Method :
  • Bring water or stock to the boil and add fish.

  • Bring to the boil again and add tomatoes, chili, lime juice, fish sauce, sugar and chicken seasoning powder.

  • Garnish with spring onions and Chinese celery.

  • Serve hot with steamed rice or rice vermicelli.
